Environmental Business Consultant (1991 - 1995)

Define strategies and plans to aid senior managers of environmental organizations in achieving both environmental leadership and business excellence. Examples:

Created an information systems strategy and plan for a graduate school of environmental studies in the application of technology for environmental education, as a means to improve their competitiveness as an institution of higher learning.

Designed a business and operating plan for a nature and photography tour company that enabled it to provide better customer service through improved administrative management, and improved profitability through cost reduction.

Created a long-term strategic plan for a business coalition committed to community environmental improvement in New Hampshire and Vermont; developed opportunities to improve cooperation among businesses and local government.

Adjunct Professor- Environmental Studies, Antioch University (1994- 1995)

Designed, planned and conducted professional development seminars for Environmental Studies graduate students at Antioch New England Graduate School. Supervised graduate student internships and master's projects in environmental management, field science and information systems.

Field Tour Leader and Naturalist (1991 -Present)

Lead nature and photographic tours, primarily in the Canadian Arctic, designed to help participants enjoy our world's unique places, and also to establish personal vision and ethics toward our land and toward themselves.

Senior Manager, Digital Equipment Corp. (1976- 1991)
Operations Manager, Nortel Networks (1994- 2002)

Responsible for business unit management, operations and site management, community and government relations, information systems, product and process development and personnel management. Recognized for operational improvements in profitability, customer satisfaction and quality.

Business and Operations Management: Managed software publishing operations for both Digital and Nortel. Developed and led technological, business and human systems for improved software delivery worldwide. Continually recognized for improvements in employee development, profitability, customer satisfaction, process effectiveness and quality.

Administrative Management: As Site Manager (Digital), managed site construction and established all site services for a facility of over 2000 engineering professionals. Provided liaison for community and government relations for the City of Nashua and State of New Hampshire. As Conference Chairman for Digital's annual conference for senior managers, set new standards of excellence for the event.

Information Systems Management: Established and managed product design and development for a total quality management program for information technology.

Senior Software Engineer, Raytheon (1972- 1974)
Senior Software Engineer, System Development Corp. (1974- 1976)

Engineer and manager:  computer systems design; software development, implementation and validation. Both in the Air Force and as an Air Force contractor, designed, developed and maintained software system for U.S. Air Force "Spacetrack" phased-array radar system. As part of Air Force design team, responsible for software that controlled the orbit determination and assessment portion of the AN/FPS-85 system. As part of the contract team, served as Software Test Director for the "Cobra Dane" Spacetrack radar system in Alaska.
